Job Summary
We need SUBSTITUTE CUSTODIANS to fill in when our regular staff is absent or during periods of heavy workloads. Duties include sanitizing and cleaning classrooms, restrooms, emptying trash, and some landscape maintenance, etc. These positions are typically 6-8 hours/day ~ either early in the day or late afternoon to evening. Job Description / Essential Elements:
CUSTODIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Custodian will perform cleaning and custodial work in school, office, and other buildings and perform routine exterior cleaning and trash pick up on campus. In addition, the custodian shall perform related duties as assigned. The custodian is responsible to the Plant Manager and works under direct supervision from him.
ABILITY TO: Respond to teacher needs and classroom problems; Maintain assigned classrooms, restrooms, and other work areas in a clean and orderly condition; Perform heavy manual tasks; Understand and carry out oral and written directions; Use common electrical cleaning equipment; Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of a work period.
DUTIES: Sweeps, mops, waxes, scrubs floors, dusts, washes, and polishes furniture and woodwork, cleans white boards and "smart" boards, empties and cleans waste receptacles, cleans rest rooms and replenishes sanitary supplies, sweeps/uses blower on sidewalks and play areas, moves and arranges furniture and equipment, cleans and polishes metal work, replaces light bulbs and flourescent tubes; operates power cleaning equipment, transports and delivers material and equipment between various building locations, stocks and inventories custodial and school supplies, sets up for assemblies/events, empties outside trash receptacles, locks doors, windows and perimeter gates and performs security checks, activates/deactivates alarm systems; other jobs as requested
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of California Drivers License
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school supplemented by one year experience in the performance of custodial or related work.
