We are seeking self-driven and detail-oriented individuals to provide excellent park and facility maintenance, along with exceptional customer service! Our team strives to provide quality parks, facilities and amenities for public use.

Typical Schedule: Year-round, 28 hours a week, and will include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Possession of a valid Class C (basic, noncommercial vehicle) California Driver's License is required.

Class Summary

Under general supervision, performs a variety of unskilled/semi-skilled labor and maintenance work in the maintenance and operations of District parks and facilities; operates a variety of maintenance equipment; and performs other related duties as required.

Who We Are

Established in 1958, Cordova Recreation & Park District (CRPD) is an independent special district governed by an elected Board of Directors.

We provide quality recreational programs, parks and services for our diverse and growing region. We currently operate over 45 parks and facilities across more than 600 acres of urban and open space. We also operate Cordova Golf Course which is a full-service 18-Hole course with a lighted driving range, pro-shop and lessons from PGA professionals. We host dozens of events throughout the year and provide athletic, educational and creative outlets for children and adults of all ages.

We proudly serve communities within Sacramento County including the City of Rancho Cordova and the communities of Gold River, Larchmont, Mather, Riviera East, Rosemont and additional unincorporated portions of Sacramento County.

Essential Functions

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled manual labor work in landscaping, irrigation, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, horticulture, masonry, painting, custodial, pest control, and other crafts as required.
  • Assist in the maintenance of turf by mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerating, and raking.
  • Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems.
  • Assist in the installation, pruning, and maintenance of various shrubs and trees.
  • Perform a variety of janitorial work; sweep, mop, and clean areas; clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms; empty trash receptacles.
  • Perform general grounds cleaning; clean and maintain assigned areas; pick up and discard trash and litter; remove and clean-up graffiti; pressure wash assigned areas as necessary.
  • Set-up and arrange chairs, tables, and other furniture within assigned areas.
  • Assess facilities, equipment, and apparatus to identify conditions and safety concerns; take appropriate action to ensure safety.
  • Operate a variety of maintenance equipment; clean, maintain, and organize tools and equipment required for the job.
  • Maintain written records and reports.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Knowledge of:
  • Basic materials, methods, terminology, and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of parks and facilities.
  • Proper and safe methods, techniques, materials, and equipment used in the construction, maintenance and repair District parks and facilities.
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety procedures.
  • Basic report preparation.
  • Principles and practices of record keeping.

Ability to:
  • Perform unskilled/semi-skilled park and facilities maintenance work.
  • Operate maintenance tools and equipment related to area of assignment.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions and schedules.
  • Perform simple mathematics.
  • Meet customer service and teamwork guidelines as defined in the performance standards.
  • Be accountable for knowledge and adherence to the District policy manual.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.


Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. One year of training and experience in the skilled minimum requirements listed above is desirable.

License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid Class C (noncommercial, basic) California Driver's License is required.

Additional Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older.
Candidate is required to pass a background check.

Sick Leave: All part-time and seasonal employees will be issued forty (40) hours of sick leave upon their date of hire and reinstated every one year anniversary to be available for the following twelve months not to exceed a 40 hour cap.
