We are seeking a motivated Ground Integration Lead for the Protected Tactical SATCOM – Resiliency (PTS-R) Program. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA, and will require you to be on-site.

This position is contingent upon program award and/or customer funding.

The team is looking for a strong Ground Integration Lead acting in a Chief Engineer role for the Ground Segment of the Protected Tactical SATCOM – Resilient (PTS-R) Program. This individual will provide technical oversight for the Ground Segment. Built in partnership with the U.S. Space Force's Space Systems Command, the company's PTS-R system will deliver a modular, flexible and scalable system that offers a path toward fielding a next-generation anti-jam, protected tactical satellite communications architecture. Northrop Grumman's system provides a tailor-made dependable communications pathway for each user capable of fighting through adversaries' attempts to disrupt connections.

What You'll Get To Do:

As the PTS-R Ground Integration Lead, you will bring your development engineering background to a role where you can make a broad impact to engineering projects that are critical to our customers. You will be leading cross engineering teams through the entire development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of hardware and software architecture, network architecture, external interface development, ground antenna design, and ground level subsystem design and integration. Travel is expected up to 10%.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Establishes overall direction CONOPS, technical processes, systems, and solutions
  • Recommends and implements new products, processes, policies, standards or operating plans in support of job function strategy
  • Develop thorough definition of system interfaces
  • Customer facing, providing engineering oversight for the ground system design across the Mission Operations and PTS Ground Entry Terminal products
  • Define the system implementation approach and operational concept
  • Support capture activities, including RFI/RFP preparation, customer presentations and demonstrations
  • Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies
  • Provide presentations to customers and senior management
  • Lead/oversee technical work products developed by larger engineering team and supporting design reviews
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Product Technical Leads (Digital Twin, Mission Operations Center, C2 SW, and PTS Ground Entry Terminal)

Basic Qualifications:

  • 14 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors in STEM; 12 Years of relevant experience with Masters; 10 Years of relevant experience with PhD
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required at the time of application
  • Experience managing a large team
  • Experience in Agile Leadership
  • Experience with CAMEO
  • Experience in Software Systems Engineering and SEIT V&V activities
  • Familiarity with MILSATCOM and Customer relationship in that community
  • Experience with Ground Terminals, Mission Operations infrastructure, hardware
  • Experience with External Interfaces and integration with external interfaces
  • Familiarity with Ground CONOPS
  • Familiarity with SCN (out-of-band and in-band C2)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI
  • Familiarity with PTS architecture
  • Familiarity with COTS C2 architecture/solutions (Kratos OpenSpace, InControl, OpenC3)
  • Familiarity with Ground Entry Terminal designs
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Experience defining ground architecture through successful execution of SRR, PDR, and CDR milestones
  • Excellent technical writing and team building skills

Salary Range: $188,200.00 - $282,200.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
