Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Application Sales Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for converting complex requests for quotes (RFQs) into high-quality bids and quotations. You will establish and maintain strong client relationships throughout the sales cycle, proactively follow up on leads, and convert RFQs to meet customer expectations, including making detailed testing proposals.

The Application Sales Engineer must clearly articulate Element testing capabilities to both business and technical audiences. They should identify all technical requirements of assigned accounts to ensure quotations are complete and professional. This role involves interaction with the Element Sales Team, General Manager, and lab personnel. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, action-oriented, approachable, and patient.

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 DOE

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare formal quotations by interpreting customer drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  2. Consult with program managers, technicians, and technical staff to ensure accurate and timely quotes.
  3. Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications related to NDT and chemical processing.
  4. Calculate lead times and pricing using standard price lists, costing models, and operational inputs.
  5. Communicate with customers to clarify requirements and provide updates or revisions to quotes.
  6. Navigate technical discussions to qualify leads and align services with customer needs.
  7. Track activity and maintain accuracy within the CRM, ensuring proper documentation of opportunity status and communications.
  8. Build strong customer relationships through excellent communication and timely responses.
  9. Assist in identifying future customer needs and collaborate across functions to meet those requirements.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience with non-destructive testing, material science, or technical services preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and testing procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple RFQs and follow-ups.
  • Basic sales skills with a customer-first mindset and expectation management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external clients.
