Responsibilities

The Collector is responsible for following up on self-pay accounts to ensure payment is received from uninsured patients or the account is transferred to another payer. The role involves clear and efficient communication by phone and in person with clients and staff, maintaining productivity standards, and reporting. The Collector obtains updated demographic and insurance information, forwards necessary updates to relevant staff for system updates, and uses the computer to input follow-up notes and access collection and patient information.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Experience in hospital collections preferred
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Customer service experience required
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
