Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Mechanical team, of the Entertainment, Hospitality and Science/Technology sector, based in Los Angeles, California.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  1. Revit or CAD proficient with working in 3D models
  2. Prepare HVAC one-line diagrams
  3. Prepare/ Review HVAC calculations for loads
  4. Thorough knowledge of Mechanical and energy codes
  5. Edit specifications to reflect the project requirements
  6. Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases
  7. Select and schedule equipment
  8. Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application
  9. Coordinates with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc)
  10. Respond to RFI's for the project, and accurately review submittals
  11. Solve installation problems
  12. Apply risk management procedures daily to minimize exp's and client's exposure to problems
  13. Understand MEP/FP work planning and manage design process to the available hours in work plan
  14. Understand proper scope of MEP/FP SD, DD, CD level documents – and deliver appropriate documentation
  15. Work with project coordinator and Clients to meet scheduled project milestones of multiple projects
  16. Manage and deliver revisions (ASI's, etc) and sketches according to proper numbering convention
  17. Edit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc)
  18. Market Sector – Understands specific engineering requirements for applications within a market sector
  19. Understand and properly provide existing exp details relevant to projects
  20. Be able to direct and mentor Designer level staff on all of their responsibilities on a daily basis
  21. Perform at a ‘responsible charge' level; meeting exp's design and quality levels
  22. QA/QC reviews of all calculations by designers, and provide guidance and mentoring
  23. Determine content of drawings and specs for Designers in order to meet the scope of work
  24. Develop and monitor work plans in conjunction with other Project Managers
  25. Review code related items with Designers, and ensure compliance
  26. Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours
  27. Write studies and reports for systems on projects
  28. Writes sequences of operations for AHU's, CHW and HW systems
  29. Understands and applies concepts of CHW, HW, WSHP, variable & constant flow systems
  30. Air side systems- CV, VAV, coil selection, fan selection
  31. Hydronic Systems-hot, chilled condenser, steam
  32. Thorough understanding of psychometrics and be able to apply to every project
  33. Advanced equipment selection and analysis – chillers, boilers, air terminals, cooling towers, air valves, hepa filters, DX equipment, and water source heat pumps
  34. Thorough understanding of total energy concepts
  35. Knowledge of Fluent in energy software applications
  36. Participation Fluent in developing life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) for project systems

What your experience looks like

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  2. Candidate should have an engineering degree in the field of mechanical engineering with 5+ years of building HVAC design experience
  3. EIT or Registered Professional Engineer preferred
  4. Experience designing in Entertainment, Hospitality and Science/Technology

The pay range for this role is $83,000 to $126,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
