The primary role of a teacher is to provide students with appropriate educational activities and experiences that enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Teachers will help students develop the skills necessary to be productive members of society.

Instructional Strategies

  • Design, write, and use lesson plans that conform to the charter's curriculum.
  • Teach instructional subjects according to guidelines established by the California Department of Education, charter policies, and regulations.
  • Implement appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to meet diverse learning styles and student needs.
  • Design instructional activities based on data from student learning style assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Special Education Department to fulfill requirements of students' IEPs.
  • Coordinate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Oversee teacher aide and volunteer assignments.
  • Employ technology practices to enhance instruction.

Growth and Development

  • Incorporate the principles of the Portrait of a Graduate and Magnolia Public Schools' SLOs in lessons to support student growth.
  • Assist students in assessing and improving their study habits.
  • Create formal and informal assessments to evaluate student success.
  • Manage extracurricular duties and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Serve as a role model and support the mission of the charter.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Prepare the classroom to facilitate learning and support students' physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Maintain control of student behavior in accordance with the student handbook.
  • Ensure safety and proper use of equipment and facilities.
  • Contribute to the selection of books, equipment, and materials.

Communication

  • Establish rapport with parents, students, principals, and teachers through conferences.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Communicate information clearly and accurately.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands include standing, bending, sitting, listening, and hearing students regularly. Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds and escort students across campus. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.

Other Duties

  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Stay updated on state and charter regulations and policies.
  • Manage and file reports and records.
  • Attend faculty meetings and staff committees.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Salary range: $61,000 - $85,000 per year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Valid CA teaching credential.
  • United States work authorization.
