Our mission is to Silicon Valley where we seek to declare and embody Christ's gospel of love and salvation. We are a joyful, friendly congregation of all ages and stages, and we are intentional in our own formation as Christ's followers as well as in serving others.
Job Summary:
The Director of Worship's main focus is to shape and support all musical aspects of our worship services, inspiring and enabling the congregation to actively participate in singing praises. This role also encompasses musical leadership for retreats, special events, and seasonal services. Additionally, the Director will mentor, develop, and lead our musicians, while also providing ongoing support to our existing music team. All responsibilities listed below average 5-7 hours per week with 4 of them on Sunday during standard Church seasons (Ordinary Time).
Responsibilities and Duties:
Leading and organizing Sunday music, including directing musicians, selecting song arrangements, and curating the service's song list.
Conducting rehearsals for musicians and volunteers the week preceding a service.
Overseeing the setup of sound and music equipment before each service.
Providing basic sound engineering support for 3 out of 4 Sundays per month .
Caring for and maintaining sound and AV equipment.
Providing guidance, development, and leadership of the sound team.
Collaborating weekly with the Rector (Pastor) to develop specific music selections for upcoming services.
Participating in one weekly staff meeting for Sunday service planning and organization.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven ability to lead music vocally and instrumentally (e.g., piano, guitar).
Basic Sound Engineering or live sound skills.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience leading music in group or church settings.
At least 2-3 years of part-time or full-time ministry experience.
Proficiency in Sound & AV technology (live sound, slides, sound engineering).
Developed communication (clear and compassionate), team management, and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of hymns, traditional songs, and modern/contemporary worship music.
Basic understanding of music theory or equivalent experience.
Proven experience working in a team dynamic.
Preferred (but not required):
Experience with liturgical worship and liturgy.
Sight-reading ability for voice.
Familiarity with ProPresenter, Planning Center, and Song Select.
