Job Description Overview:
The Field Application Engineer (FAE) serves as the primary escalation point for customer-reported issues involving ASUS NUC and Mini PC products, diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems across hardware, software, and system-level interactions. Additionally, the FAE plays a crucial role in our growing, dynamic, and highly focused team responsible for developing new or existing opportunities. The FAE will be required to work with customers from ground level to executive level, manage projects hand-in-hand with internal and external teams, and help grow the business whenever possible. Customer and solution focus are two key factors for this position. The FAE must work with multiple departments to ensure new and existing projects are initiated or maintained in alignment with customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • When customers encounter technical issues or performance problems with ASUS NUC or ASUS Mini PC series, FAEs are responsible for diagnosing and resolving these issues
  • Ability to work as a highly technical problem solver; understands system architecture, hardware, and software interaction
  • Collaboration: Working with Sales, Engineering, Management, and Operation teams to initialize or support ASUS OPBG products
  • Attention to detail is a must for projects, which may include many moving parts
  • Gathering business and application requirements from the customer, including forward interaction and promotion of ASUS products
  • Leading training and education efforts on ASUS and market technology, focused on customer needs and requirements
  • Attend industry-related trade shows and joint customer meetings
  • Travel may be required; this may involve on-site customer visits, troubleshooting, or trade shows
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Effective at multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, and managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to draw upon technical and/or product knowledge in configuration of ASUS or related products
  • Experience in business IT systems, datacenter builds, and workstation technology
  • Customer-focused and analytical mindset with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Confident speaking in front of large groups and/or senior management
  • Focused on taking initiative to solve problems and create positive results
  • Provides technical leadership in Pre-Sales and oversees implementation of such solutions
  • Highly technical problem solver who understands system architecture, hardware, and software interaction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong background and experience with x86-based server architecture; familiarity with Firmware, Linux, Windows, and virtualization platforms is a plus
Required Qualifications:
Years of Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or 3+ years' equivalent job experience
Work Experience
  • 3+ years of PC or technology-related experience in the field
  • Familiarity with CPU, RAM, SSD, motherboard layouts, and cooling solutions
  • Strong background and experience with x86-based Windows, Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian), and embedded OS architecture
  • Solid HW system expertise and diagnostics skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus
  • Familiarity with Networking & Remote Management Knowledge in (IPMI, Redfish API, PXE boot tools) is a plus
Working Conditions:
  • Office Only: Typically works in an office environment
  • Requires sitting, operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other office equipment for extended periods of time
  • Up to 20% travel domestically and possibly up to 5% to Canada; this may involve on-site customer visits, troubleshooting, or tradeshows
$80,000-$120,000 annually is the estimated pay range for this role working in City of Industry, California office. The final amount will be determined based on qualifications & experience of the candidate relative to the role.
