Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Sr. Manager of Sports Programming is responsible for developing, managing, and executing the strategic scheduling and content programming of Telemundo Deportes events across various platforms (TV, streaming, digital, social and/or FAST platforms). This role involves collaborating with rights holders, internal production teams, sports business team, marketing, sales, research, PR and corporate affairs departments to ensure optimal coordination of all Telemundo Deportes events. This Sr. Manager will also coordinate talent schedules and logistics.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive sports programming schedules for live events, studio shows, replays, and original content on a daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and yearly basis.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to prioritize and implement programming changes.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Telemundo Programming team to identify and manage linear windows for sports programming on Telemundo and Universo.
  • Collaborate with legal and business affairs to manage sports rights and content acquisition deals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with leagues, teams, event organizers, and third-party content providers for event schedules
  • Support long-term programming strategies and seasonal planning to maximize viewership, engagement, and monetization.
  • Identify emerging sports and audience opportunities to expand content offerings.
  • Create long-range planning (LRP) sports calendars for ad sales and content operations.
  • Partner with marketing and promotional teams to support key events and campaigns.
  • Coordinate with production and operations to ensure readiness for live broadcasts.
  • Coordinate with various internal departments on corporate wide initiatives
  • Analyze audience metrics and trends to optimize program placement and scheduling.
  • Use audience data, ratings, and feedback to evaluate content performance.
  • Manage talent assignments, schedules, and logistics for Deportes productions across all platforms.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Communications, Media, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in sports programming, broadcasting, or content management.
  • In-depth understanding of the sports media landscape, including rights negotiations, scheduling, and audience behavior.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management abilities
  • Proficiency in programming tools, scheduling software, and analytics platforms (e.g., Nielsen, Comscore, Adobe Analytics).
  • Experience with live event operations or production planning.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required
