Summary
The Vice President of Ambulatory Operations is a key executive leader responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of all ambulatory clinics within the health system. This role ensures high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care delivery across a diverse network of outpatient services. The VP serves in a dyad partnership with the Administrative Medical Director of Ambulatory Services to align clinical and operational objectives and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Core responsibilities include oversight of daily clinic operations, provider relations, contract management, HR matters involving physicians and advanced practice providers, and the development and execution of long-term strategic goals. The VP also plays a central role in physician and clinician recruitment, onboarding, and retention. This leader is expected to work cross-functionally with senior leadership and frontline staff to support system priorities, promote financial sustainability, and advance the organization's mission in the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees management teams in Primary Care, Specialty Clinics, Cancer Center, Behavioral Health, Primary Care, Urgent Care, and additional service lines as assigned.
  • Oversees recruitment and contracting related to hospital based specialties including Radiology, Hospitalists, Anesthesiology, and Emergency Medicine, and other service lines as assigned.
  • Works with Chief Medical Officer on physician compensation to ensure compliance and effective compensation management across the health system.
  • Oversees all activities that relate to the future growth of the ambulatory services including strategic planning, recruitment and structural design.
  • Ensures sufficient recruitment and onboarding of physicians to support the system and service line strategic plans.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community partners related to the successful engagement and support of community needs.
  • Serves as a liaison between Tahoe Forest clinics and staff members, physicians, and businesses in the community.
  • Supervises space planning activities and legal changes in business structure for Physician Services in general and including the need for Rural Health Clinics (RHC).
  • Identifies and supports best practices with an eye to ever improve access, quality, efficiency and performance for the health system.
  • Exhibits strong knowledge of LEAN principles and helps lead projects to improve the implementation of these principles throughout the system.
  • Ensures physician onboarding is completed a timely and coordinated manner.
  • Provides information as needed and regular reporting to the Board of Directors.
  • Partners with CMO as dyad leadership for all associated service lines.
  • With CMO designs alignment strategies for contracted physicians to optimize use of resources, eliminate unnecessary expense and drive efficiency in clinic operations.
  • Champions and supports process improvements or pilot projects to drive innovation in clinic operations.
  • Works collaboratively with staff and medical staff to implement telehealth programs.
  • Oversees development, distribution and implementation of metric-based physician and clinic dashboards to drive access to care, quality and value.
  • Supports annual management skills development plans for key managers.
  • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
  • Complies with System policies and procedures.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master's Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration and 5 or more years relevant experience

Required Licenses/Certifications
Valid Driver's License in good standing
