Administrative Analyst II - CDA Administration

The County of Nevada is seeking a full-time Administrative Analyst II to serve the Nevada County Board of Supervisors (BOS) office located in Nevada City, California. This position will serve the Board of Supervisors as their direct staff to help advance county projects, promote County priorities, review legislation and interpret alignment with County legislative positions, assist with solutions for constituent issues, further community initiatives, and serve as an integral standout colleague in the county. You will also work in the field as a liaison for the office with constituents, local jurisdictions, county departmental staff and senior executives, community partners, and state and federal delegates. The position will be based primarily in Nevada City but will be expected to work throughout the county on a periodic basis, including the Town of Truckee.

Crucial skills for success include clear and concise communication, the ability to take initiative, agility in navigating fast-paced circumstances, legislative research experience, and excellent discretion. This is an exciting position that serves as both an information detective and public ambassador. This position will investigate difficult and sophisticated issues of public policy where no clear recommendation exists. To achieve success, you must provide forward-thinking communication to diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will place a strong emphasis on the need for data-driven solutions by exploring nuances and multi-faceted perspectives when tackling any given issue. Qualifying applicants should have experience and/or desire to work with local leaders. The successful candidate will bring positivity and excitement for public service to our team which is essential in advancing the county's mission, vision, and values.

  • Advancing legislative priorities through research, analysis, and work on special projects.

Other vital duties include, but are not limited to, fiscal budgeting, detailed research, process improvement efforts, serving as a county liaison for legislative advocacy groups, staffing workgroups, leading special projects, tracking legislative efforts, leading logistics production for Board of Supervisors meetings, planning and implementing community meetings, and providing staff support for Municipal Advisory Councils and/or various commissions. Drafting executive-level communications such as letters of advocacy, staff reports, research briefs, resolutions, newsletters, and Certificates of Recognition will be critical, and some administrative support duties will also be required. An understanding of local government and the key ingredients for successful public-private partnerships is extremely valued.

Level II:

Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, economics or a related field from an accredited college or university, and two years of experience at a level equivalent to Nevada County's classification of Administrative Analyst I.

Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.
