Property And Casualty Program Manager

Summary role develops and oversees Property and Casualty programs via a delegated underwriting authority model. Responsible for business growth, underwriting, profitability, and program relationship and performance management. Responsibilities also include leading coordination of key internal and external stakeholders in their support of each program to ensure underwriting, reinsurance, claims, audit, and compliance objectives are met in a best-in-class manner.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensure strong underwriting performance by managing underwriting referrals and overseeing underwriting guidelines
• Manage program performance by monitoring key metrics, creating action plans when needed, and driving improvements in challenged segments through coordination with program administrators
• Perform annual audits of the program administrators underwriting compliance and performance and ensure audit findings are addressed
• Manage assigned relationships with program administrators, including regular visits
• Provide required resource and problem resolution assistance to all program functions to resolve outstanding issues
• Review the potential for new business opportunities with programs assigned
• Monitor and update premium and profitability projections
• Negotiate commission structures with program administrators
• Coordinate and provide oversight to key vendors and stakeholders

Education And Experience

Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Bachelor's degree in insurance, business or a related field is required. MBA designation and advanced insurance certification preferred. Minimum seven years of progressive multi-faceted experience with U.S. P&C products evaluating and planning strategies to solve management and business problems, including developing operational and strategic plans. Five years of progressively increasing leadership responsibilities including responsibilities for profit and growth. Entrepreneur experience a plus. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required.

• Thorough knowledge in commercial property and casualty underwriting
• Thorough knowledge in product development, proposal and renewal development, risk assessment, group experience evaluation, and plan design and rating
• Knowledge of activities, practices and terminology of the commercial property and casualty insurance industry and relevant legal and administrative procedures
• Thorough understanding of the insurance industry competitive environment
• Ability to negotiate and establish a personal rapport with opposing parties, and to resolve conflicts in a professional manner
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial and management data
• Thorough knowledge of budget preparation and financial management
• Ability to develop and implement effective and efficient recommendations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated drive, determination, and persistence to achieve annual revenue targets
• Presentation skills and confidence to present division and product in one-on-one settings or to large gatherings

Working Conditions

Work is performed remote in a virtual home office with minimal hazards. Occasional travel to physical for team meetings, industry events or corporate functions.

Pay Range - Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market, and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $101,420 and $169,900.
