Rate of Pay: $21.69/hour + DOE

Summary
Performs work associated with maintaining the exterior grounds and landscaping of the Tahoe Forest Hospital District campus and outlying properties. This role ensures that the District's facilities are well kept, aesthetically pleasing, and free of hazards. The Groundskeeper will perform a variety of tasks related to lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, waste management, and ensuring that the hospital's exterior environment is safe for employees, patients, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uses various hand tools and gas-powered tools to mow and maintain grass, rake leaves, trim bushes and trees, plant flowers and shrubbery, remove dead plants, water and fertilize vegetation and prepare grounds for seasonal changes.
  • Monitor and Maintains irrigation systems and ensures adequate watering
  • Maintains driveways, walkways and parking lots by removing snow and ice.
  • Clear snow and ice from walkways, driveways, and parking lots during winter months to ensure safe access for staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Provide sanding and deicing as needed.
  • Collect and dispose of litter, leaves, and other debris from hospital grounds and outdoor areas. Provide dump runs as needed.
  • Ensure all grounds are free of safety hazards, including fallen branches, debris, and other objects that could pose a risk to individuals.
  • Operate and maintain grounds keeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and snowplows, ensuring they are clean, fueled, and in proper working condition.
  • Work closely with other Facilities staff to coordinate maintenance projects and ensure smooth operations of the hospital's exterior areas.
  • Participate in seasonal clean-up projects and the installation of seasonal displays or decorations as needed.
  • Assists with move projects including minor demolition, transporting materials and setup of medical/office spaces.
  • Ensures tools are maintained properly.
  • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
  • Complies with System policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
No educational requirement and 2-3 years relevant experience

Required:
  • Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter. May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy objects.
  • Active driver's license and competent with towing a trailer.
