Basic Patient Care:This includes tasks like bathing, dressing, and assisting patients with mobility, including helping them use the toilet and transferring them between beds and wheelchairs.
Monitoring Patient Health:LPNs take vital signs (like blood pressure and temperature), observe patients for any changes in condition, and document these observations.
Medical Procedures:Under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, they may perform tasks like changing bandages, inserting catheters, and assisting with wound care.
Communication and Reporting:LPNs communicate with patients about their care, listen to their concerns, and report any changes or concerns to the supervising nurse or doctor.
Documentation:They maintain accurate patient records, documenting care provided and any relevant observations.
In addition to these core duties, LPNs in Job Corps may also be involved in:
Medication Administration: Administering medications as prescribed by a doctor.
Wound Care: Assisting with wound care and dressing changes.
Assisting with Medical Procedures: Helping with procedures like drawing blood or performing EKGs (electrocardiograms).
Patient Education: Providing basic patient education on health and wellness topics.
