Overview

Holm Electric is seeking a Lead Technician to join our growing team. We're looking for a motivated and dependable professional who thrives in a team environment and is ready to take ownership of projects while leading others to success.

As a Lead Technician, you will be responsible for executing and overseeing the installation of residential and commercial low-voltage systems. You'll ensure projects meet quality and safety standards, mentor junior team members, and serve as the go-to expert on the job site. This is a key leadership role for someone with strong technical skills and the ability to inspire a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee project installations from start to finish, including electrical, audio/video, networking, lighting control, and backup power systems.
  • Supervise and mentor apprentices and technicians, providing training and guidance to develop their skills.
  • Read, interpret, and implement blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate daily tasks, delegate work, and monitor productivity of installation crews.
  • Ensure all installations comply with NEC, local codes, and manufacturer standards.
  • Conduct system testing, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients to keep projects on track.
  • Maintain jobsite safety, organization, and cleanliness, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Manage inventory, tools, and equipment for assigned projects.
  • Document progress, issues, and solutions for accurate project reporting.
  • Represent Holm Electric as a professional leader and uphold our reputation for quality and reliability.

Requirements

Required Tools & Skills

  • Proficiency with standard hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, crimpers, drills, etc.).
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment (multimeters, continuity testers, tone generators, clamp meters).
  • Knowledge of networking tools and testers for low-voltage cabling.
  • Familiarity with power tools (saws, hammer drills, conduit benders) and proper safety practices.
  • Ability to operate lifts, ladders, and other jobsite equipment safely.
  • Strong computer literacy for reading drawings, updating digital documentation, and using project management apps.
  • Solid understanding of NEC codes, low-voltage standards, and structured cabling practices.
  • Leadership and communication skills to direct crews and coordinate with other trades.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical, low-voltage, or systems installation.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience directing installation crews.
  • Proven expertise in electrical, low-voltage, or integrated system installations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain quality under deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Industry certifications (OSHA 10/30, manufacturer certifications, low-voltage licensing) preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally more with assistance.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts at varying heights.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces (attics, crawlspaces, etc.).
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors, in all weather conditions.
  • Regular travel to job sites is required, including some extended or varied hours depending on project needs.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required on all jobsites.
  • Environment involves exposure to construction sites, electrical systems, and equipment.
