The Microsoft Defender team delivers a constantly evolving set of services and solutions to meet the challenges posed by ever-evolving attackers. This is a DevOps team responsible for cloud design, service architecture, engineering infrastructure, and data platform development.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help conduct business reviews and operate our production services. Collaboration skills are essential to work closely with other engineering teams to ensure services are highly stable, meet performance SLAs, and fulfill customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for application architecture, cloud design, infrastructure development, and end-to-end implementation for our Sovereign and Government Clouds.
• Work across teams to develop architectural approaches and infrastructure solutions.
• Conduct business reviews and operate our production services.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure service stability, performance, and customer satisfaction.
• Build and improve scalable, reliable services.
• Lead efforts to enhance engineering practices in complex cloud environments.
• Design and automate service scaling features and customer requirements.
• Implement security and compliance automation improvements.
• Provide technical leadership within a DevOps team handling customer issues.
• Contribute to security enhancements of our systems.
• Design and implement new features and system functionalities.
• Investigate and resolve pre-production and production issues, deploying fixes as needed.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation (typically one week every 6-8 weeks).
