The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Personnel Technician 3 in Research and Innovation.
This role plays a critical part in supporting the divisions' human resources operations. Responsibilities include reviewing and preparing job descriptions, coordinating recruitment efforts, processing hires and separations, auditing payroll and cost allocations, and maintaining the integrity of personnel data.
The Personnel Technician 3 serves as a resource for supervisors and employees, assisting with workplace inquiries, performance documentation, leave programs, and onboarding/offboarding processes. The position ensures compliance with Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), State, and University regulations.
Additional duties include developing and delivering procedural guidance and training for departmental support staff, researching and resolving complex personnel or payroll discrepancies, and preparing reports for management.
This position requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and independent judgment in interpreting and applying personnel rules, policies, and procedures.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of technical personnel/payroll experience which included researching information, applying rules and regulations, and problem solving in areas such as recruitment and examining, payroll, interviewing and selection, and other related personnel/payroll functions; OR
One (1) year of experience as a Personnel Technician II in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 29 (Entry, Step 01 $24.02/hr. Step 03 $26.07/hr.)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity, and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
