Sr Dir, Software Engineering - Connectivity Engineering

As a Capital One Senior Director of Software Engineering in the Connectivity Engineering team, you will be a part of the Connectivity Evolution organization focusing on driving strategy and best practices around the enterprise network agenda while collaborating across domains with Cyber, Cloud and Software Engineering teams. You will be responsible for driving our connectivity technical (network) evolution across all our pillars including engineering, security and automation.

Expertise with the following technologies are ideal for success in the role: Local Area Networks, Cloud Networks, BGP, SD-WAN, VxLAN, Wi-Fi with software tools like Ansible, Python etc. You will:

• Bring a deep understanding of networking, software development and complex system design
• Be an expert in building new fit-for-purpose automation and software systems attached to new systematic capabilities
• Lead people and skip level managers in an organization that could reach 50+ people
• Communicate with ability to operate up toward the executive level
• Create group level processes, generate roadmaps, strategies and manage workflows for an organization
• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team
• Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
• Work across to improve the velocity of your and other teams
• Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments
• Break existing monolithic applications into micro service architectures and build new microservices

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 9 years of experience in software development
• At least 7 years of experience in people management
• At least 5 years of public cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or a Master's Degree in Software Engineering
• 13+ years of experience in software development
• 10+ years of experience in people management
• 7+ years of experience with Networking (BGP, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, Cloud Networking and Data Center Networking)
• 7+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services (AWS, GCP, Azure)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Remote (Regardless of Location): $280,600 - $320,200

McLean, VA: $308,700 - $352,300

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
